Apollo Command and Service Modules in moon orbit

 

the Apollo spacecraft was designed to land men on the moon 

it consisted of three parts

the Command Module, the Lunar Module and the Service Module.

Only the Command Module returned to Earth,

only the Lunar Module landed on the moon.
